Flashback on the Third Workshop of the Doctoral College „Port Hamiltonian Systems: modelling, numerics and control“

12.05.2023|21:03 Uhr

From March 28 to March 30, University of Wuppertal hosted the Third Workshop of the Doctoral College „Port Hamiltonian Systems: modelling, numerics and control“ as part of the cooperation between IMACM and the French-Dutch-German Doctoral College, funded by the Franco-German University.

As host of the third workshop, the Functional Analysis group of Birgit Jacob welcomed over 35 participants from 12 universities, spread over the 3 countries, in Wuppertal. It was a special honour to have pioneering experts on the field such as Arjan van der Schaft, Bernhard Maschke and Hans Zwart who gave an insightful talk on his personal view on port-Hamiltonian systems and their story.
Besides further talks given by IMACM-members Claudia Totzeck and Markus Clemens on their latest research, the scientific program consisted mainly of presentations of PhD students and fruitful discussions in interactive sessions. In the evenings everyone had the opportunity to strengthen and deepen the network in this very welcoming and friendly community at social events, i.e. mini golf and a conference dinner at Atelier.
A special thanks to Paul Kotyczka for coordinating the cooperation with the Franco-German University and to Elise Julien who gave a talk on french/german prejudices and their negative or positive influence on such network collaborations.
