12.09.2024|17:02 Uhr

The aim of the Autumn–School in Tunis, Oct. 13-19,2024, is to train presentation skills to communicate with a talk and a poster containing own research results at an international conference. This is why the workshop preceeds the conference on `Stochastic in Mathematical Finance and Physics’ in Hammamet, Oct. 20-26. All students attending the Autumn-School in Tunis will discuss their results with renowned scientists at the Hammamet- Conference during a poster session. Four students attending the Autumn-School will be selected to present also a talk at the Hammamet-Conference.

The Autumn-School is organized by Prof. Dr. Saloua Mani Aouadi (University Tunis “El Manar”), Prof.
Dr. Olfa Draouil Aouadi (University Tunis “El Manar”), Prof. Dr. Barbara Rüdiger (University
Wuppertal) and M.Sc. Irene Ventura (University Wuppertal).

Below is the complete invitation letter by Prof. Dr. Barbara Rüdiger also containing details on the selection process, the conference location, accomodation and travel, and on how to apply.

Dear Master Students of the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences,

I am excited to share the following opportunity with you.

I am organizing an Autumn-School in Tunis, Tunisia, from October 13th (arrival) to October 19th,
2024,
in collaboration with the University of Tunis El Manar, with the funding provided by the
DAAD. Moreover, after the Autumn-School we will all participate at the Conference `Stochastic in
Mathematical Finance and Physics` which will take place from October 20th to October 26th (leave),
2024, at the Radisson Blue Resort Thalasso, in Hammamet, Tunisia
.

The aim of the Autumn–School in Tunis is to train presentation skills to communicate with a talk and
a poster of the own research results in an internationally renowned conference like the Conference
`Stochastic in Mathematical Finance and Physics’ in Hammamet. All students attending the
Autumn-School in Tunis will discuss their results with renowned scientists at the Hammamet-
Conference during a poster session. Four students attending the Autumn-School will be selected to
present also a talk at the Hammamet-Conference.

We are searching for two motivated Master’s students with an interest in Stochastic Analysis,
Functional Analysis, Mathematical Finance and/or Mathematical Physics to apply.
The selection of
these students will be based on a presentation of a topic that can be related to their thesis or a
subject that the candidate is interested in exploring further.

As a part of the selection, we request:

• A title and abstract of your talk (18 minutes talk)
• A structured presentation of the same topic through a poster;
• A motivation letter.

The application deadline is 19.09.2024.

The application should be sent via email to me at ruediger@uni-wuppertal.de, the PhD student Irene
Ventura at ventura@uni-wuppertal.de and the secretary droste@uni-wuppertal.de.

If you have any questions contact all three of us through the same emails.

The Autumn-School will also involve Master's students and PhDs from the University of Tunis ‘El
Manar’. During the week in Tunis, students will participate by sharing their research topics through
both a talk presentation and a poster presentation. Organizers will review both presentations and
provide suggestions for improvement, allowing them to present a revised version at the end of the
week. The four best works will be selected by the organizers to be presented as talks at the
upcoming conference. Additionally, all students attending the Autumn-School will present a
corrected version of their poster during the Hammamet-Conference.

The two selected Master’s students will be sponsored by:

• 725 Euro for the mobility, flight from Düsseldorf (departure October 13th and return
October 26th) and transport from Tunis to Hammamet.

• Accommodation and meals for the entire duration of the stay (45 Euro per day)

Remark that the Hotel fees are higher. It is convenient to share Hotel rooms with other
students. Please contact us regarding this.

We expect all participants to attend also the Winter-School at the University Wuppertal
from December 2nd to December 7th, 2024, when the Tunisian attending students and
organizers of the Autumn-School will visit us
. In this school in Wuppertal, we will deliver
courses related to Stochastic Analysis and/or Functional Analysis and/or Mathematical
Finance and/or Mathematical Physics with the aim to build eventually further research
collaborations. The courses will be oriented also to the scientific interests of the attending
students.

Best regards,

Prof. Dr. Barbara Rüdiger
